About

Jack Ball is a UK-based artist who has dedicated almost a decade to the study of Art and Design, culminating in a Master's Degree in the field. His artistic journey has been marked by experimentation with various techniques and disciplines, which has informed his current practice. Ball specializes in the accurate illustration of the natural world, predominantly employing traditional mediums such as watercolour, graphite/charcoal and coloured pencils.

Precision is a cornerstone of Ball's work; he seeks to achieve a high level of realism while celebrating the distinct characteristics of each medium. His art intimately represents nature, showcasing everything from expressive portraits of wildlife to intricate illustrations of botanical flora. A notable feature of his style is the strategic use of negative space, which allows his subjects to exist independently against a sparse background. This focus on texture and form produces highly detailed representations that ensure immediate recognition by the viewer, regardless of whether the artwork is rendered in black and white or colour.

Ball’s imagery reflects a profound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter, enriching the viewer's experience and appreciation of the natural world.
